Jeffrey Gould, MD , MPH

Dr. Gould is currently the Robert L. Hess Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine and Dr. Gould is a distinguished Neonatologist and Perinatal Epidemiologist who specializes in identifying risk factors for poor perinatal outcomes and improving healthcare practices. He directed the NICU at Boston City Hospital in the 1970s and later joined the University of California, Berkeley, becoming Professor and Chairman of the Maternal and Child Health program in 1989. Since 2003, Dr. Gould has been the Director of the Perinatal Epidemiology and Health Outcomes Research Unit in the Division of Neonatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he serves as the Robert L. Hess Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Gould co-founded the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) in 1997 and established the CMQCC in 2006 to enhance obstetric care quality in California. He serves as Senior Advisor for both CPQCC and CMQCC. Throughout his career, Dr. Gould has received numerous accolades, including the National Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Award for Outstanding Leadership, the AAP Neonatal Education Award, the SPR’s Douglas K Richardson Award for Perinatal and Pediatric Health Care Research, the Legend in Neonatology Award, the CAN Service Award, and the AAP Neonatal Landmark Award.
