Ravi Patel, MD, MSc

Dr. Ravi Mangal Patel is a Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Neonatal Clinical Research at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. He is the Neonatal Chair of the Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC). He received formal training in quality improvement through the Emory Healthcare Quality Academy and the I2S2 course at Cincinnati Children’s. He has led multiple improvement projects including efforts focused on improving Vitamin D supplementation, the timeliness of Hepatitis B vaccination, critical congenital heart disease screening, care during the “Golden Hour”, decreasing necrotizing enterocolitis, antibiotic stewardship and care of infants with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome in conjunction with the Vermont Oxford Network. Dr. Patel is a principal investigator in the NICHD Neonatal Research Network, a scientific advisor to the NEC Society, serves on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is past-Chair of the International Society for Evidence-Based Neonatology. He is passionate about evidence-based medicine and the effective and timely translation of evidence to patients.
