Shalini Ojha, PhD

Shalini is a Professor of Neonatal Medicine at the University of Nottingham, UK and a Consultant Neonatologist at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. Shalini completed undergraduate medical education and MD (Paediatrics) at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India and went on to train in Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine in the UK and PhD in Child Health at the University of Nottingham.
She is a leading clinical trialist and is the Chief Investigator of the FEED1 trial. She is the lead investigator and co-investigator on several other ongoing clinical trials in neonatal and perinatal medicine. She also has expertise in neonatal large database studies and has published several observational studies using UK national data. Her main research interests are in neonatal nutrition, especially enteral feeding and promotion of own mother's milk feeding; neonatal pain; and respiratory support with an aim to improve long term outcomes in infants born preterm and their families. For this, Shalini works closely with parent and family led organisations in the UK such as Bliss and NEC-UK and leads research engagement at the British Association of Perinatal Medicine and the UK Neonatal Nutrition Network (N3).
