Dr. Rita C. Silveira is a Full Professor of Pediatrics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and a neonatologist at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA), Brazil. She coordinates the Neonatology Outpatient Clinic and the High-Risk Follow-Up Program at HCPA. Executive coordinator of the national board certification in neonatology in Brazil, granted by the Brazilian Medical Association and the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics. A leading researcher in neonatology, she holds a Level 1 (PQ1) research productivity fellowship from the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and is a recipient of a research grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the Grand Challenges initiative. Her research focuses on neonatal outcomes, neurodevelopment, neonatal infections, and nutrition in preterm infants.
