Heidi Herrick, MD MSCE

Dr. Herrick is an assistant professor in pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and an attending neonatologist and clinical investigator at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). She attended the University of California San Francisco for her medical school, where she stayed for her pediatric residency and chief residency. She completed her neonatal fellowship training at CHOP in 2019 and received her master’s in clinical epidemiology from UPenn in 2020. She is currently completing her master's in human factors and ergonomics at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
Her research agenda focuses on the application of human factors to neonatal resuscitation and intubation to improve provider performance and patient outcomes. She serves as the neonatal audiovisual director at CHOP and HUP, and she has extensive experience implementing and using video recording, including eye tracking, during neonatal resuscitation and intubation for both QI and research purposes. Her work is supported by an AHRQ Career Development Award for her project, "Leveraging Human Factors to Evaluate Quality of Neonatal Delivery Room Care." She also leads a multicenter delivery room video recording collaborative entitled VERIFI.
