Laura Wasko, Laura Wasko RRT, CPFT
Hello! My name is Laura Wasko, and I am proud to work as a respiratory therapist at Nemours for nearly 11 years, with a total of 12 years of experience in the field. My journey in healthcare began when I graduated from college and moved from New Jersey to Delaware, where I have since built both my professional and personal life.
As a wife and mother of three wonderful children, aged 8, 7, and 3, I understand the unique challenges that families face, especially those with a child requiring specialized medical care. My passion for working with children who have tracheostomies and their families goes beyond just treating their medical needs. I have spent the past 7 years as the lead therapist for the trach-dependent units, where I gained invaluable experience in not just providing care but also in understanding the emotional and educational needs of both the patients and their families.
In October 2024, I took an exciting step in my career by transitioning into the role of patient family educator. This position allows me to focus on educating families about their children's conditions and empowering them throughout the medical journey. I find immense fulfillment in guiding parents, helping them navigate the complexities of care, and providing support as they adapt to new challenges. Making a positive difference in the lives of these families has always been my driving force, and I am committed to ensuring they feel supported and informed every step of the way.
