Kathryn "Katy" Appenzeller has been a nurse with Nemours Children's Health, Jacksonville since 2017. She made the transition from clinical nurse in the department of Otolaryngology (ENT) to nurse supervisor for the area satellites and float medical assistant team in 2023. In 2024, she was promoted to nurse manager for the satellites and float team in addition to the department of Ophthalmology. Katy is onsite daily rotating between Jacksonville South, Fleming Island, and Nocatee locations to support associates onsite across departments as well as satellite functionality and efficiency. Katy's current role speaks to her focus on quality and safety and her passion for engagement initiatives to support Nemours satellite locations in the community and the associates who make it all happen, including utilization of the float team in areas of greatest need.  

Katy has dedicated years of her career to the field of pediatric nursing, and her journey has been marked by a strong emphasis on leadership roles. Throughout her career, she has gained progressive experience, allowing her to develop a deep understanding of the unique challenges and rewards that come with caring for pediatric patients in many medically complex populations.
