Dr. Helga Naburi is an Associate Professor at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and a Consultant Neonatologist at Muhimbili National Hospital. She holds an MD and MMED (Pediatrics) from MUHAS, an MPH from Dartmouth Medical School, a PhD from Karolinska Institutet, and a neonatal fellowship (MPhil) from the University of Cape Town.
A global health researcher, Dr. Naburi has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications focusing on neonatal care in low-resource settings, pediatric infectious diseases, and implementation science. She led the establishment of Tanzania’s first MSc in Neonatology and has collaborated with WHO, the Gates Foundation, and other global partners on multi-country and local research initiatives.
Her work spans clinical care, research, teaching, and policy, with a strong interest in maternal and newborn health. She frequently presents at scientific conferences and contributes as a peer reviewer for international journals.
