Vishal Kapadia, MD, MSCS, FAAP
Dr. Kapadia is an Associate Professor specializing in neonatal perinatal medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, USA. He currently holds the position of Co-Chair on the American Academy of Pediatrics-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (AAP-NRP) Steering Committee. Additionally, he is an active member of the neonatal resuscitation guidelines writing group for the American Heart Association (AHA) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation's neonatal life support content expert group.
Dr. Kapadia plays a crucial role in educating UTSW medical students, residents, fellows, nurses, physician assistants, and attending physicians, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based neonatal medicine. His clinical research expertise lies in the areas of fetal-neonatal transition, neonatal resuscitation, and the prevention of neonatal lung and brain injuries. Notably, he is an NIH-funded physician-scientist and serves as the alternate site Principal Investigator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Neonatal Research Network. He is currently leading a multicenter clinical trial: Optimization of oxygen Saturation Targets And preterm Resuscitation Trial (OptiSTART).
As a founding member and UTSW site Principal Investigator of the Delivery Room Intervention and Evaluation (DRIVE) network, Dr. Kapadia is committed to advancing neonatal resuscitation research. Moreover, he holds the position of co-chair for the neonatal resuscitation research focus group within the Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium (CHNC).
Dr. Kapadia's expertise in neonatal resuscitation has earned him recognition as an invited lecturer both nationally and internationally. His speaking engagements focus on the latest developments and practices in this critical field.
