Heidi Herrick, MD MSCE
Dr. Herrick is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and a neonatologist and clinical investigator at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). She attended University of California San Francisco for her medical school, where she stayed for her pediatric residency and chief residency. She completed her neonatal fellowship training at CHOP in 2019 and received her master’s in clinical epidemiology from UPenn in 2020. Her research agenda focuses on optimizing human factors during neonatal resuscitation to improve provider performance and patient outcomes. She has extensive experience implementing and using video recording during delivery room and neonatal intensive care unit resuscitations for quality improvement and research and serves as the director of Neonatal Audiovisual recording at CHOP and HUP. She has received two American Academy of Pediatric Neonatal Resuscitation Program grants for her Human Factors work (the 2017 young investigator award and the 2019 human factors award). She is currently supported by a Career Development Award from the Agency of Healthcare Quality and Research a for her project, "Leveraging Human Factors to Evaluate Quality of Neonatal Delivery Room Care."
