Martin Stocker, MD
After graduation at the medical school of the University of Berne, Switzerland I have undergone training in general paediatrics and paediatric surgery at the Children's Hospital of Central Switzerland in Lucerne, Switzerland. After the degree in Paediatrics I continued my training in Neonatology and Paediatric Intensive Care at the Children's Hospital of Central Switzerland, the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, UK. Since 2003 I'm working as consultant at the Department of Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care of the Children's Hospital in Lucerne, interrupted by my stage at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London from 2009 to 2011. 2012 to 2015, I made an in-service training for medical education with graduation as Master of Medical Education (MME) at the University of Berne, Switzerland. Since 2015 I'm the head of the Department of Neontology and Pediatric Intensive Care and since 2021, I'm the head of the Children's Hospital of Central Switzerland. I'm Professor for Pediatrics at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. My main research interest is directed to the topic of neonatal sepsis with special focus at diagnosis and management of neonatal early-onset sepsis and antimicrobial stewardship. I'm one of the co-founders of the international, neonatal sepsis trial network "nest-net" and of the "Less antibiotics for babies" (LA4B) initiative, launched 2020.
