Prof. Dr. Inéz Frerichs is a graduate of the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia (MD), where she also completed her PhD in physiology. She is a Professor of Physiology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany and the head of the Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) research group at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, Germany. In her scientific career, she has been involved with different aspects of lung-oriented research (e.g., gas transport in the lungs, high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, respiratory mechanics, functional lung imaging, wearable lung monitoring). Her major research focus is EIT. She has published 213 original articles (161 on EIT), 18 reviews and 21 book chapters. She is the coordinator and first author of the first Consensus statement on chest EIT.
