Objectives
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe a brief history and evolution of pediatric anesthesiology.
- Identify common misconceptions of the specialty then clarify the realities of anesthetic care for infants, children, and adolescents.
- Discuss how pediatric anesthesiologists tailor anesthetic plans for the unique physiologic and developmental needs across different age groups and comorbidities.
- Define the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to safe, timely, and effective anesthesia care.
Practice Change
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Improve perioperative risk stratification and enhance collaborative efforts between pediatricians and anesthesiologists.
