This session enhances Emergency Department nursing competence by strengthening bedside practice, trauma/treatment room performance, and clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence-based knowledge to support purposeful, patient-centered nursing care.

This session will provide education on Mass Casualty Events and the key principles of patient decontamination, including PPE use and contamination control. Education on this topic will include identifying appropriate triage, clothing management, and patient safety considerations during a hazardous materials or radiological decontamination event. Learners will receive hands-on training on the proper decontamination process for ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients using the Rinse, Clean, Rinse method, as well as proper donning and doffing of appropriate level PPE.
