Online - Care of the Child with a Central Line

This activity presents an overview of the various venous catheters (CVL, ports, PICC, etc.) that are placed in interventional radiology and the associated nursing care following insertion.

Target Audience

Day Medicine RNs and IR Staff.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:

  1. The learner will summarize central venous catheter selection criteria
  2. The learner will identify the various types of central venous catheters
  3. The learner will explain nursing care considerations following central venous catheter insertion
