Delaware 2-Day NICU Nurse Resident S.T.A.B.L.E Course

April 24, 2024 to April 25, 2024

This course is a neonatal education program that focuses exclusively on the post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care of sick infants. Based on a mnemonic to optimize learning, retention and recall of information, S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for the six assessment and care modules in the program: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional support. A seventh module, Quality Improvement stresses the professional responsibility of improving and evaluating care provided to sick infants.

This course is open to NICU nurse residents 

Target Audience

Nemours Children's Hospital DE NICU nurse residents 

Learning Objectives

Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to improve patient safety for infants by:

  1. Organize stabilization information using a mnemonic to assist with retention and recall of activities that are critical for the post- resuscitation/pre-transport care of critical infants.
  2. Standardizing processes and approach to the care of critical ill infants.
  3. Encourage teamwork.
  4. Identify, reducing and helping eliminate preventable adverse events and errors.
