This mixed-method regularly scheduled series provides APPs the opportunity to learn study mental and behavioral health using varying learning modalities such as engagement in a detailed discussion about a specific patient case in the setting or learning from a didactic session that discusses and analyzes the latest research, interesting cases, and evidence-based practices related to the specialty of Primary Care Mental and Behavioral Health.
This series includes education for primary care advance practice providers who will be offering care in mental and behavioral health for children.
Objectives:
- Describe and practice the use of brief interventional therapies to treat common behavioral and mental health problems in children.
- Describe individual and family-centered treatments for common mental and behavioral diagnoses to include disordered sleep and eating, body repetitive behaviors, depression and anxiety.
- identify those patients who require immediate referral to a mental health specialist and will be able to guide families in relation to the need for ongoing counseling and support.
