Debbie Sahlin, RN
Debbie Sahlin, RN, is the Founder and Executive Director of Ryan’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports children with disabilities. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). In 2022, Sahlin received the prestigious Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in recognition of her dedication to service. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from the University of Maryland, College Park. Sahlin is the author of a children’s book and curriculum that promotes inclusive interactions with children with disabilities, currently used in local school systems. In acknowledgment of her contributions to the disability community, she was awarded the F. Michael Taff Award by the City of Rockville in January 2017. Her latest initiative, Ryan’s Place, is designed to provide comprehensive healthcare and support services for youth with disabilities transitioning from pediatric to adult care.
