Abby Nerlinger, MD, MPH
Abby Nerlinger MD, MPH is a pediatric hospitalist at Nemours Children' Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College/Thomas Jefferson University. She also serves as the Program Director for the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship, the Medical Director for Research and Scholarship for the Nemours Value-Based Services Organization, and serves as the Nemours Site Lead for the Delaware CTR-ACCEL Community Engagement and Outreach Core. She completed undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame in biology and public policy, medical school at Yale University School of Medicine, pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship at Children’s National Hospital, and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
Dr. Nerlinger has experience in legislative and community advocacy, specifically in the areas of pediatric environmental health and health care finance. She sits on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Environmental Health and Climate Change. Her current research focuses on health system-community partnerships, specifically measuring health and economic outcomes associated with medical-legal partnerships (MLPs). Dr. Nerlinger is overseeing the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the first pediatric-focused medical-legal partnership in the State of Delaware. She is lead co-author of the article “The Advocacy Portfolio: A Standardized Tool for Documenting Physician Advocacy” published in Academic Medicine.
