Material Specific Objectives

  • 1. Familiarize the audience with the ALARA principle and selecting the best method available to minimize radiation exposure in pediatric patients
  • 2. Understand the appropriate type and frequency of dental radiographs for pediatric patients, considering their age, dental development, clinical findings, medical and dental histories, and risk factors for dental caries
  • 3. Justify the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) as an adjunct diagnostic tool when conventional radiographs are insufficient
  • 4. Discuss how this policy can be included in caregiver education and making evidence-based practice recommendations
