This educational blitz series provides didactic education for NICU Care Providers
Objectives:
1. Understand the indications for peritoneal dialysis in neonates, including specific clinical scenarios where it is considered a therapeutic option, such as acute kidney injury, or fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in the practical aspects of performing manual peritoneal dialysis in neonates, including proper catheter care techniques, sterile procedure adherence, monitoring of dialysate parameters, and troubleshooting common complications or challenges during the procedure.
3. Enhance knowledge of the nursing care and management of neonates undergoing peritoneal dialysis, focusing on patient assessment, fluid and electrolyte balance monitoring, infection prevention strategies, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team for comprehensive neonatal care.
