TITLE: Epilepsy Surgery in Children: Calming the Storm

Objectives:

  • To learn about intractable epilepsy
  •  To learn about other options to treat intractable epilepsy, epilepsy surgery
  • Develop an understanding of the surgical approaches to epilepsy: invasive EEG, resection, disconnection, neuromodulation
  • Describe the various phases of care children undergo when being evaluated and treated

 

Practice Change:

  • Timely referral of the intractable epilepsy patients to the epilepsy center
  • Make referrals for surgical epilepsy evaluation in a prompt fashion so that the child may benefit from early intervention
