Planning Committee for Continuing Education Activities
Upon identifying a professional practice gap, the Course Directors form a Planning Committee to oversee the development of the educational activity. This committee includes Interprofessional Planners as part of the team, when appropriate, ensuring a diverse range of expertise and professions representing the target audience.
Committee Composition:
- Minimum Requirements: The Planning Committee must consist of at least two members, including:
- Nurse Planner: Responsible for ensuring that the educational content meets accreditation standards and aligns with best practices.
- Content Expert: Provides specialized knowledge relevant to the educational topic.
- Additional Members: Other professionals may be included as needed to enhance the planning process.
Responsibilities:
Gap Analysis: The Nurse Planner and the Planning Committee will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the identified practice gap, investigating its root causes. This analysis will help determine whether the gap is due to deficiencies in knowledge, skills, or practices among registered nurses.
Educational Interventions: If the gap is linked to educational needs, the committee will design targeted interventions to address these deficiencies effectively.
Alternative Strategies: If the gap arises from factors beyond educational shortcomings, the committee may explore non-educational strategies to bridge the gap.
Ongoing Collaboration: The Interprofessional Planners will coordinate efforts among committee members, ensuring that all perspectives are integrated into the planning process.
This initiative specifically addresses the practice gap among NCHFL Interprofessional Inpatient Rehab Team.
