Objectives
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize the major milestones in the implementation and de-implementation of probiotics in NICU infants.
  • Discuss the factors influencing adoption of evidence into clinical practice.
  • List the benefits and harms of the use of probiotics when used in preterm neonates to prevent necrotizing enterocolitis.
  • Describe the major events related to the use of prophylactic probiotics in preterm neonates in the United States.
