Objectives
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify common medical issues that present predominantly in female athletes.
- Improve both diagnosis and treatment of ailments that are common in female athletes.
- Recognize risk factors of the female athlete triad and its consequences.
- Describe Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) to patients and families.
- Discuss surgical treatments of common injuries.
- Apply rehabilitation protocols post operatively.
Practice Change
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Screen for RED-S in both male and female athletes.
- Counsel patients and families about the dangers of consciously or unconsciously underfueling while exercising.
