Objectives
- Describe the typical disease course expected in pediatric patients with IgA vasculitis with nephritis.
- Identify potential clinical and histopathological risk factors for more aggressive disease and/or risk for continued disease activity over time.
- Define dysfunctional uterine bleeding and current clinical practice guidelines.
- Educate providers on dysfunctional uterine bleeding clinical pathway.
- Recognize common clinical features associated with DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11.2 deletion syndrome).
- Discuss associations between 22q11.2DS, autoimmunity, and psychosis spectrum disorders.
- Compare the variable clinical presentations of infective endocarditis in children, including potential complications.
- Acknowledge the clinical characteristics contributing to the pathogenesis of infective endocarditis in children.
- Be aware of potential predictors of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) failure in patients with respiratory viral panel (RVP) positive bronchiolitis.
- Illustrate potential uses for Etiometry in clinical research.
Practice Change
- Increase prescription of IV iron and aygestin in emergency department for patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
- Develop a higher degree of suspicion for infective endocarditis in patients with prolonged fever and potential pulmonary or systemic emboli.
