Objectives

• Describe the principles of reproductive justice and their application to pediatric and adolescent health care, with a focus on promoting youth autonomy and equitable access to services.
• Identify strategies pediatric providers can use to recognize and address reproductive health disparities while fostering empowering, developmentally appropriate care for youth.

Practice Change

• Adopt clinic practices that actively center adolescent autonomy by providing confidential, unbiased contraceptive counseling and empowering youth to make informed reproductive health decisions, such as removing barriers from long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) device removal and contraception counseling based on patient preference.
