Course Title: Pediatric Spinal Trauma
Course Description: This one-hour lecture is designed for emergency department staff, focusing on the critical aspects of pediatric spinal trauma. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the unique anatomical and physiological considerations in pediatric patients, common mechanisms of spinal injuries, and the clinical signs and symptoms to be aware of. The course will also cover the initial assessment, stabilization, and management of spinal trauma in children, ensuring that attendees are well-prepared to handle these emergencies effectively
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to
- List the most common causes and mechanisms of spinal trauma in children.
- Differentiate between various types of spinal injuries (e.g., fractures, dislocations, spinal cord injuries)
