This session enhances Emergency Department nursing competence by strengthening bedside practice, trauma/treatment room performance, and clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence-based knowledge to support purposeful, patient-centered nursing care.
This session will provide education on Diabetic Emergencies relevant to patients who present to the Pediatric Emergency Department. Participants of this session will review the clinical findings and nursing roles for patients with Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
Learners will be provided with hands-on training on the pharmacologic therapy of DKA. Participants will have an opportunity to simulate the initiation an insulin drip with the 2-bag system, as well as its continued management.
