Get to Know Me

Dr. Jones grew up in North Carolina, Ohio, and Arizona. As a kid, Dr. Jones was active, athletic, and loved science. She was awarded an engineering scholarship and majored in math before changing her focus to medicine. Her mother, who emphasized the importance of education and earned her PhD, along with her uncle, a pathologist, were her sources of information.

Why Treat Children

If she hadn’t pursued a medical career, she would have been an elementary school teacher. Even when they’re sick, kids let their personalities shine through. Because children’s development processes affect their whole lives – and their families – she felt she could have the most impact as a pediatrician.

What She's Passionate About

Coing from a family of teachers, education has always been a key to her family’s success and quality of life. Dr. Jones feels it is important that education continues to make affordable, quality education accessible to all, and encourage students to go into scientific and medical fields because those are the jobs of the future.

 How She Trie to Make a Difference

As a hospitalist, Dr. Jones interacts with children and families for a snapshot in time, when people are often outside their comfort zone. She attempts to deliver quality health care and making sure patients have the resources they need. She also encourages residents to practice patient-centered care throughout their training.
