Angelo Leto Barone, MD

Dr. Angelo Leto-Barone, MD, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Palermo Medical School in Italy, where he also completed residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed three postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Southern California, Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins. He was then recruited by the combined Johns Hopkins & University of Maryland Plastic Surgery Program where he devoted 7 years to complete his surgical training and from which he graduated in 2021 with an infolded clinical fellowship in Acute Burn Care and Burn Reconstruction. Before and during residency, he published almost 40 papers, was an author of multiple book chapters, and while in residency obtained his first patent for a device he invented for ear reconstruction. He then completed a craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, currently the n.1 pediatric hospital in the country. His vision for interdisciplinary ear reconstruction and passion for microtia repair led to the establishment of the Nemours Children’s Ear, Hearing, & Communication Center (NEHCC) which he co-directs with Dr. Cedric Pritchett. Dr. Leto Barone serves as an Associate professor of Plastic Surgery and the Vice Chair of Plastic Surgery Education for the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
