Dr Carvalho started his professional life as a general Pediatrician in an underserved area in the Appalachian mountains and subsequently became a pediatric Hospitalist. In what some might describe as a mid-life crisis he subsequently completed a second residency in Anesthesiology to become a pediatric Anesthesiologist and is now an Associate Professor at UCF. Research interests and publications include infant spinal anesthesia and the use of novel regional anesthesia techniques for enhancing an opiate minimized post-surgical recovery.
