Susan Overton, RN, Esq. serves as Vice President, Chief Risk Officer for Nemours Children’s Health. In her role, Susan manages the claims and risk management teams. She also oversees Nemours’ enterprise risk management program. Susan joined Nemours in January of 2025 after serving as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a healthcare technology company specializing in the staffing of clinicians across the country. Prior to her work in the healthcare technology space, Susan served as the General Counsel for a large post-acute care provider. 

Before becoming an in-house lawyer, Susan practiced law as a litigator defending hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, nurses and other clinicians. With her combined in-house and private practice experience, Susan has over twenty years of claims and risk management experience. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University and a law degree from Duquesne University. Prior to her legal career, Susan worked as a registered nurse in acute-care hospitals in New York and Pittsburgh.
