Nicola Orlov, MD, MPH

Dr. Orlov is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a board-certified pediatric hospitalist. She serves as the Residency Program Director and the Vice Chair of Education. Prior to becoming program director, she served as the Associate Program Director for the residency program for eleven years. She graduated from the Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her residency training and Chief Year at The University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. She completed an MPH at Columbia University and graduated from The Medical Education Research Innovation Teaching and Scholarship (MERITS) fellowship from the University of Chicago. She currently serves as the Chapter Advisor at the PSOM for the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Orlov is an exemplar educator and mentor who is recognized repeatedly for her teaching and mentorship both locally and nationally. She has won The Leonard Tow Award, AOA Faculty Inductee, AAMC Humanism in Medicine Nomination, Fellow of the Academy of Distinguished Medical Educators, BSD Distinguished Educator and Mentor Award, and the APA Mid-Career Teaching Award for Faculty. Notable educational achievements include serving in national roles through APPD and on the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Orlov’s research interests include coaching, feedback, and remediation. She has lead workshops at educational conferences, been invited to speak nationally, and has publications in journals such as Academic Pediatrics, Academic Medicine, and JGME on these topics.
