Dr. Lloyd Werk earned his MD from Tel Aviv University and his master’s in public health from Boston University in Massachusetts.  He began his career as a general pediatrician in a primary care practice in Commack, New York and then completed his fellowship in general academic pediatrics at Boston University. He eventually moved to Orlando to pursue an academic career, He has been with Nemours Children’s Health since 1999 and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Associate Chief of the Department of Quality and Safety. Dr. Werk joined the UCF College of Medicine in 2007 and is now a Professor of Pediatrics. 

Dr. Werk works in the Nemours Department of Quality and Safety developing systems and measures to help clinicians reach institutional goals in quality and health outcomes as well as directs the Nemours portfolio of Maintenance of Certification projects, chairs the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and co-leads the Nemours Quality Champions program. He extends healthcare beyond the institution’s walls by directing the Nemours Community Health, which sponsors community outreach projects to help young children grow up healthy and ready to learn. He has authored and contributed to several manuscripts, presentations, and abstracts related to how patient care delivery can be improved, as well as efforts to promote healthy lifestyle changes. In the Department of Pediatrics, he works with faculty to promote their development and chairs the NCH, FL Promotions Committee. He mentors young investigator research and lectures on quality and safety among other topics. Dr. Werk’s efforts and successes have been recognized through a number of awards and honors over the years.  

Through direct pediatric care, programs to extend needed services and quality & patient safety initiatives, Dr. Werk is passionate around ensuring kids receive the best possible care so that they can enjoy their childhood and grow up to lead happy, healthy and productive lives.
