Shehzad A Saeed, MD, FAAP, AGAF, NASPGHAN-F is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University, Physician Lead for Patient and Family Experience and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Dayton Children’s Hospital. He also serves as the Clinical Director of international quality improvement learning health network-ImproveCareNow (ICN). Quality Improvement and improving outcomes of children with inflammatory bowel disease remain cornerstone of Dr Saeed’s academic, clinical and research focus.

He is a graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan and completed his pediatric residency at Wyler Children’s Hospital, University of Chicago, Chicago, and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Floating Hospital for Children, New England Medical Center, Tufts University, Boston. His previous leadership roles include Fellowship and Division Director of Pediatric Gastroenterology at University of Alabama at Birmingham, Associate Fellowship Director and Clinical Director of the Schubert-Martin Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, Medical Director of Inpatient GI and Colorectal Unit and Director of Outpatient Operations at Liberty Campus at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.

At Dayton Children’s Hospital, Dr Saeed serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Pediatric Medical Specialties, supporting 3 service lines comprising of 14 divisions. He also serves as the Physician Lead for Patient and Family Experience focusing on developing strategies, initiatives and interventions for supporting providers, nursing partners and staff in delivering exceptional care for every touch point within the health system. Due to his background in Quality Improvement, he also serves a core member of the Center for Health Equity as well as champion for faculty development and institutional physician wellness program.

In his role as the Clinical Director of ImproveCareNow network, he provides executive oversight, and supervision of clinical operations, strategic initiatives and operations of the 100+ center ( with centers in US, England, Belgium, and Qatar). He is also serving on the Steering committee of a 17 member Children’s Hospital consortium focused on improving patient and families experience of care. He has authored/co-authored several peer reviewed manuscripts, and book chapters.

Mentoring, teaching, patient advocacy/ empowerment, and Quality Improvement remain cornerstone of Dr Saeed’s focus and clinical care.
