Rhea Birusingh, Medical Doctor, M.D.
Dr. Rhea J. Birusingh, a pediatric pathologist, brings a depth of experience shaped by extensive post-graduate training and diverse professional encounters in various clinical settings. Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Pediatric Pathology, she earned her medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada. Following this, Dr. Birusingh completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Danbury Hospital, CT, and her Pediatric Pathology Fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, FL.
In her quest for continual improvement, Dr. Birusingh pursued Additional Training, obtaining certifications in Prostate Pathology and Laboratory Medical Direction through the College of American Pathologists Advanced Practical Pathology Programs. She also successfully completed the Lab Management University hosted by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
In August 2022, Dr. Birusingh joined Nemours Children's Health-Florida as the Medical Director of Clinical Pathology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist. Prior leadership roles encompassed serving as Medical Director and Chief of Pathology at HCA-Citrus Hospital, contributing as the Medical Director of Clinical Pathology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and playing a key role in opening the Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando in 2012, where she served as the Medical Director of Anatomic Pathology.
A Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, Dr. Birusingh actively engages in national and hospital committees, including the CAP House of Delegates (Florida Delegate) and various committees at Nemours Children’s Health-Florida. Passionate about fostering Laboratory Stewardship, she modestly frames her career as a commitment to quality, compliance, and innovation in pathology, aiming to make humble yet significant contributions across diverse clinical and managerial roles.
