Janet Yarboi, PhD
Janet Yarboi, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics Diversity, Equity Inclusion (DEI) committee. Dr. Yarboi is passionate about improving the lives of children and families experiencing physical and mental health challenges, particularly for young people from historically marginalized groups. As a DEI leader, Dr. Yarboi is interested in creating safe and supportive environments for patients, learners and providers in academic medicine. To support this mission, she and her colleagues are currently developing a departmental restorative justice (RJ) program aimed at building community, reducing interpersonal harm, and addressing conflict with the long-term goals of improving psychological safety and connectedness and reducing provider burnout and attrition. As a life-long Chicagoan, Dr. Yarboi is also involved in local community organizing to address the social and structural determinants of health inequity impacting the populations she works with.
