Aaron Eckhauser, MD MS

I joined Nemours Children's Health, Delaware Valley in January 2025. Previously I worked at the University of Utah, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery starting in 2012. I completed my general surgery training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2009 and then completed my cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2011. I stayed in Philadelphia and completed my fellowship in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 2012. I am board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery subspecialty Congenital Cardiac Surgery. My clinical interests are focused on caring for all patients, from neonates to adults, with congenital heart defects. I have a special interest in pediatric aortic valve disease (Ross procedure) and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect and major aortopulmonary collaterals. This has been a very exciting time for our group as we have collaborated with several other centers to develop expertise in these areas and have worked diligently to strengthen our local programs. I have also developed an academic interest in quality and safety within our specialty and serve as a surgical member of the Quality Improvement Team for the Heart Center at Nemours. I will be helping to lead the development of a new multispecialty Enhanced Recovery After Cardiac Surgery program here at Nemours to continue all the great work we started in Utah. I have also earned a Surgical Leadership certificate degree from Harvard University, and I have used these skills specifically to help develop, train and strengthen our OR team. I think that we have a unique opportunity here at Nemours to positively impact the quality of many children's lives and their families who are suffering from heart disease.
