John Loiselle
JOHN M. LOISELLE, M.D. F.A.A.P.
Dr. Loiselle is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics with The Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine of Thomas Jefferson University. He is also the Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Nemours Children's Hospital of Delaware.
John Loiselle, M.D., is a sub-specialist in the area of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. After graduating from Harvard University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Loiselle completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, also at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Loiselle is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. In 1992, he joined the Division of Emergency Medicine at the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine. In 1993 he was appointed the Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and in 1995 he was named the Associate Division Chief in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine (Pediatric Emergency Medicine) in 1997.
In April of 1999, Dr. Loiselle accepted a position as the Assistant Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. In 2008 Dr. Loiselle was appointed Chief of the Division of Emergency Medicine. His current academic affiliation is with The Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine of Thomas Jefferson University, where he is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics.
Dr. Loiselle is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Section on Emergency Medicine. He is a member of the American Pediatric Association. He has won several teaching awards and has spent a significant amount of time as an invited lecturer, both for regional and national courses. He is also involved in clinical research, including publications of a number of original papers and presentations at national meetings. He has written numerous chapters for Pediatric and Emergency Medicine textbooks and is Associate Editor of the Textbook of Pediatric Emergency Procedures and a former associate editor of the Yearbook of Emergency Medicine. In 2009, he received the Alfred I. duPont Award as Physician of the Year.
