Dr. Shazia Samad Mohsin is an esteemed Associate Professor of Pediatric Cardiology and heads the Noninvasive Pediatric Imaging Lab and Outpatient Services at the Department of Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Division, Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation. With a rich educational background including MBBS, DCH, MCPS, FCPS in Pediatrics, and FCPS in Pediatric Cardiology, Dr. Mohsin has also completed a Certificate Course in Health Profession Education and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Her postgraduate training and extensive experience in pediatric cardiology, coupled with her dedication to clinical teaching and research, make her a distinguished figure in her field. Dr. Mohsin’s vision focuses on pediatric cardiology imaging , hypertension, and the preventive aspects of pediatric cardiology in low- and middle-income countries. She has been actively involved in community teaching and has worked on COVID-related multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children during the pandemic.
Dr. Mohsin’s scholarly activities include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, assessments in pediatrics, and facilitating sonographer training. Her research interests span medical education, clinical studies on pulmonary hypertension, and quality improvement projects in imaging. She has numerous indexed publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at various national and international conferences.
Dr. Mohsin’s commitment to improving pediatric cardiology services is evident through her involvement in community outreach programs and her efforts to enhance the quality of congenital heart care within resource-limited settings. Her work has been recognized with awards for excellence in clinical teaching and coordination in postgraduate assessment. Dr. Mohsin continues to contribute significantly to the field of pediatric cardiology through her clinical practice, teaching, and research endeavors.
Additionally, Dr. Shazia Mohsin started a Pediatric Cardiology QNET (Quality Network) in Pakistan. She has been elected as a member of the Leadership Committee of the ACPC QNET and serves as a member of the Education Committee of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). Her areas of interest include quality improvement in pediatric cardiology, with a focus on the contextual implementation of quality metrics that help improve patient outcomes. She is dedicated to applying these metrics in clinical practice to enhance the overall standard of care and ensure better health outcomes for pediatric patients.
