Abbas Zaidi, MD, MS
Dr. Zaidi is an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University and the Medical Director of Outpatient Cardiology at Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, Delaware. His main interests are in improving healthcare systems and access for diverse patients and families. He has incorporated Population health, Implementation science and social determinants of health (SDOH) concepts in his clinical and research endeavors.
He completed his Medical School at Aga Khan University in Karachi Pakistan. Residency at Emory University in Atlanta GA, and Cardiology fellowship, including a senior fellowship in Cardiac Pathology, and a senior fellowship in Outpatient Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital. In addition, he has a Master in Population Health from Thomas Jefferson University.
From a research perspective, he was awarded a K12 scholarship through the PEDSnet/AHRQ collaborative, where he completed a Learning Health Systems researcher training. He has worked to improve the incorporation of hypertension screening guidelines by using implementation science and engaging and incorporating diverse caregiver input, care providers and hospital leaders.
In addition he has also worked in identifying gaps in care for congenital heart disease (CHD) patients and how important SDOH factors. He has done similar work here at Nemours and looked at gaps in care and their temporal association for patients with CHD.
