This Transport Quarterly Skills session will focus on transport team skills related to the care of the critically ill neonate. Join the interprofessional transport team in the simulation lab to document your competencies in umbilical venous line placement and needle thoracostomy. Learners will also review Tecotherm Setup for Induced Hypothermia, TXP Setup/Use, and participate in a Neonatal Transport Simulation lead by the NCH Neonatology Department. This live session has limited space for NCHFL associates only and prioritizes NCHFL Critical Care Transport Team associates.
Pediatric specialty transport teams rely on their expert skills and efficient systems to provide safe and timely transports of critically ill neonates and children to tertiary centers. This Quarterly Transport Skills series provides interprofessional clinicians / nurses/ respiratory therapists / emergency medical technicians quarterly instruction/demonstration of skills focused on the important aspects of care during transport to ensure optimal outcomes for children. This regularly scheduled series provides the opportunity to attend a clinical skills session that employs visual aids, practical scenarios, and live demonstrations to present concepts, processes, and skills related to the specialty of Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care Transport.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
Describe the assessment and stabilization of critically ill pediatric patients in preparation for transport.
Recognize potential problems in pediatric patients during transport and describe appropriate interventions for each quarterly topic.
