This regularly scheduled series provides nurses the opportunity to attend a didactic session that discusses and analyzes the latest research, interesting cases, and evidence-based practices related to the specialty care of rehab patients.

Objectives:

      1. Identify several of the basic communication disorders in TBI patients.

      2. State "do's" and "don'ts" for communicating with patients with dysarthria, apraxia, and aphasia.

      3. Discuss strategies for communication with patient in a minimally conscious state.
