Objectives

  • Discuss how newborn screening for Cystic Fibrosis has changed the diagnostic landscape for this condition.
  • Describe how early diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis impacts outcomes and access to important therapies.
  • Interpret the updated Newborn Screen results for infants related to Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Identify appropriate children who require further evaluation for Cystic Fibrosis.

Practice Change

  • Continue to review clinical changes in patients that would still be concerning for cystic fibrosis even if newborn screening is normal and provide appropriate referral.
