Joanna Smith, PhD
Dr. Joanna Smith is a licensed pediatric psychologist at Nemours Children’s Health in Delaware. She earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland, College Park, and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Howard University. Dr. Smith completed her residency and fellowship training at Nemours in health service psychology, providing therapy, consultation, and assessment services to children with complex medical and social histories. She has extensive experience in providing evidence-based behavioral and psychological services to youth and families presenting with a variety of concerns, including disordered eating, body image concerns, and medical adherence. Through her role as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Smith is devoted to teaching and mentorship activities. Currently, she teaches and supervises psychology externs, predoctoral residents, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as clinicians across the training spectrum who are new to working with youth with eating disorders. Dr. Smith has been invited to offer presentations on topics such as weight bias, treatment of emotional concerns, parent-based treatments, and wellness activities for youth and families.
